Abstract: Objective To search specific protein biomarker for detecting malignant pleural effusion by SELDI-TOF-MS.Methods Thirty cases of pleural effusion and thirty controls were matched by gender and age.WCX2 protein chip was used to capture proteins, followed by PBSⅡ analysis.ResultsComparing to normal control, five protein biomarkers were identified which included three highly expressed proteins with the molecular weights as 5335,7577 and 11670Da,respectively.ConclusionsSome protein biomarkers with high sensitivity and specificity can be screened out by SELDI-TOF-MS technique.SELDI-TOF-MS provides a new method for early detection of malignant pleural effusion.
