Abstract: Objective To investigate the expression of CD44v6 protein in breast cancer and its clinical significance. Method SP immunohistochemical method was used to assess the expression of CD44v6 protein in 77 mastopathy tissue and the results were correlated with the clinical and data hibtophathologk.Result The expressions of CD44v6 protein in 12 benign cases were all negative. The positive expression rate of CD44v6 protein was 64.6%in the total 65 breast cancer cases. The expression rate in the positive and negative axillary lymph nodes groups were 100%and 25.8%(P<0.05 ) rspectivey; In histopathologic gradeⅠ,ⅡandⅢ,the expression rates were 9.1%,61.8%and 100%,respectively.There were significant differences among the three groups(P<0.001).Logistic multivariate regression analysis showed that the factors affected the expression of CD44v6 were axillary lymph nodes metastasis, tumor size and histopathologic grade. Conclusion CD44v6 protein can be applied as an important indicator in evaluating the malignant transformation, metastases and prognosis of breast cancer.
