Observation on efficacy of combined organ resection for treating advanced gastric cancer

Abstract: Objective To explore the significance and effect of combined evisceration for treating advanced gastric cancer.Methods Clinical data of 62 cases of advanced gastric cancer from June 1995 to June 2008 were analyzed retrospectively.Group A included 32 cases treated by combined organ resection,and group B included 30 cases treated by palliative resection.Patients in both groups received same chemotherapy and immunotherapy after surgery,none had radiotherapy.Results The 1-,3-and 5-year survival rate in group A were 59.4%,42.5% and 21.9% respectively,while the rates in group B were 30%,0 and 0 respectively.Differences between the two groups were significant.The surgical complications in group A were more than that in group B but were curable.Conclusion Combined organ resection is practicable for treating advanced gastric cancer.
