Total resection of retroperitoneal liposarcoma for recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma: 4 cases report and literature review

Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical value of total retroperitoneal fat resection for recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma. Methods The clinical data of 4 patients with recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma treated in the Eighth Hospital of Wuhan from January 2019 to December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed and the literature was reviewed. Results All 4 patients completed the operation successfully, the operation lasted for 420 min(range: 240-660  min), and the intraoperative bleeding was 1,350 mL (range:200-3 000 mL); combined resection of 1 organ in 2 cases, combined resection of 2 organs in 1 case, combined resection of 3 organs in 1 case;Clavien-Dindo classification: Ⅲb in 2 cases, including 1 case of pancreatic fistula and 1 case of abdominal bleeding, and Ⅱ level in 2 cases. The average follow-up time was (8.8±1.5) months, and the recurrence-free survival rate was 100%. Conclusion The total resection of retroperitoneal liposarcoma is a safe and feasible procedure for patients with recurrent retroperitoneal liposarcoma.
